To set up your Outlook Express or Windows Mail client to work
as a "POP" server with Irvine OnLine
Email:
- Open Outlook Express or
Windows Mail.
- Click the Tools menu, and select Accounts.
- Click Add, and then click Mail.
- Enter your name in the Display Name field, and click
Next.
- Enter your full Irvine OnLine email
address including the @irvineonline.net in the email address field, and click
Next.
- Enter pop.gmail.com in the
Incoming
mail server field.
- Enter smtp.gmail.com in the
Outgoing mail (SMTP)
server field. Click Next.
- Enter your full email address
including @irvineonline.net in the Account name field.
- Enter your email password in the
Password field, and
click Next
- Click Finish.
- Highlight pop.gmail.com under Account, and click Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Fill in the following information:
- Check the box next to This server requires a secure
connection (SSL) under Outgoing Mail (SMTP)
- Enter 465 in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field.
- Under Outgoing Mail (SMTP), check
the box next to This server
requires a secure connection (SSL).
- Under Incoming mail (POP3), check
the box next to This server
requires a secure connection (SSL). The port will
change to 995.
- Return to the Servers tab, and check the box
next to My server requires
authentication.
- Click OK.
Congratulations! You're done
configuring your client to send and retrieve Irvine OnLine
messages.

To set up your Outlook Express or Windows
Mail client to work as an "IMAP" server with Irvine OnLine
Email:
- Enable IMAP in Gmail. Don't forget
to click Save Changes when you're done.
- Open Outlook Express or Windows Mail.
- Click the Tools menu, and select
Accounts.
- Click Add, and then click
Mail.
- Enter your name in the 'Display name' field, and click
Next.
- Enter your full email address including the
@irvineonline.net in the 'Email address' field, and click
Next. For 'My incoming mail server3 is a ______
server', please select IMAP in the
drop-down menu.
- Enter 'imap.gmail.com' in the 'Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP
or HTTP) server' field. Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' in the
'Outgoing mail (SMTP) server' field.
- Click Next.
- Enter your full email address including the
@irvineonline.net in the 'Account name' field. Enter your
password in the 'Password' field, and click
Next.
- Click Finish.
- Highlight imap.gmail.com under
Account, and click
Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Under Outgoing Mail (SMTP), check the
box next to 'This server requires a secure connection
(SSL).'
- Enter '465' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP)' field.
- Under Incoming mail (IMAP), check
the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection
(SSL)'. The port will change to '993'.
- Click the Servers tab, and check the box
next to 'My server requires authentication.'
- Click OK

To set up your IPhone to work with Irvine
OnLine Email:
If you're running software update 1.1.2, here's how to set
up POP:
- Tap Mail from your iPhone's Home
screen.
- Tap Gmail.
- Enter your name, your Irvine OnLine email address with
the @irvineonline.net, and password in the appropriate
fields.
- Tap Save. Now you're done!
If you're running software update 1.1.3, please note that
tapping the 'Gmail' button will automatically configure Gmail
IMAP. Here's how to set up POP:
- Tap Mail from your iPhone's Home
screen.
- Tap Other.
- Select POP from the tab menu.
- Enter your name, email address, and password in the
appropriate fields. The Address field should be your full
email address including the @irvineonline.net.
- Under Incoming Mail Server, fill in the Host Name field
as 'pop.gmail.com.' Under Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), fill
in the Host Name field as 'smtp.gmail.com.'
- Tap Save. Now you're done!
If you notice that POP access isn't working properly,
please ensure that all your settings are correct by following
these instructions:
- From the Home menu, tap Settings.
- Select your Gmail address.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap
Advanced.
- Ensure that your settings are as
follows:
Incoming Uses SSL:
ON Outgoing Uses SSL:
ON Authentication:
Password If you're accessing your Gmail from
multiple POP clients, we recommend setting Use
Recent Mode to ON. Heading
